EMPOWER Workplace Charging Recognition Session at the Green Transportation Summit and Expo

Updated: Oct 8

At the Green Transportation Summit and Expo, Michael Laughlin, representing the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities and Communities Partnership, recognized several exceptional workplaces for promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption through the EMPOWER Project.

This nationwide initiative, supported by over 30 Clean Cities coalitions, provides educational resources and recognition to workplaces committed to installing EV chargers for employees.

During the session, four workplaces were highlighted for their efforts:

  1. City of Cape Canaveral, Florida: Recognized for installing six dual-plug Level 2 EV charging stations at city buildings, parks, and facilities.

  2. Riner Rentals, Virginia: Honored for transitioning their entire fleet to EVs and installing charging ports for both their fleet and employee vehicles.

  3. NIPSCO, Indiana: Commended for offering extensive workplace charging facilities at their headquarters and other locations, as part of their commitment to sustainability.

  4. Potawatomi Ventures, Wisconsin: Acknowledged for their comprehensive workplace charging policy, which includes multiple charging ports and discounted or free charging for employees and tribal elders.
